The flickering neon sign of the all-night diner seemed to throb in rhythm with Elias’s headache. He hunched deeper into the vinyl booth, nursing a lukewarm coffee. Sleep had become a distant memory, a forgotten luxury. He hadn't seen his own bed in days, let alone enjoyed a restful night's sleep. The constant touring, the endless rehearsals, the relentless pressure…it all pressed down on him, a physical weight.

Suddenly, the jukebox coughed to life. A familiar guitar riff sliced through the greasy air. It was his song, "Fallen Leaves," but… it wasn't him singing. A young woman's voice, clear and bright, filled the diner. It was a cover, a surprisingly good one. Elias felt a strange twisting in his gut.

He leaned forward, straining to hear every note, every word. A knot formed in his chest. A waitress came over, asking if he needed anything. “Just… the check,” he murmured, his voice raspy. He paid, leaving a generous tip, then walked out, the music fading behind him. The cool night air offered no comfort.
